Law School Direct Pathway Programs

Franklin Pierce University is proud to be officially affiliated with two respected regional law schools - The University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law and Vermont Law and Graduate School.

University of New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce School of Law 

This agreement guarantees admission into the UNH Pierce School of Law’s JD and master’s programs, as designated by UNH Pierce School of Law, to FPU students who successfully complete the FPU requirements for the bachelor’s degree, and who also meet the admission requirements as outlined in the articulation agreement. There is a 4:3 Bachelors + Law Degree (BA/BS + JD) and 4+1 Bachelors + Graduate Degree (BA/BS + Masters). 

4+3 Bachelors + Law Degree (BA/BS + JD) 

Students who pursue a designated course of study and meet minimum GPA and LSAT/GRE requirements would be a presumed admit to the fulltime residential JD program, pending a satisfactory Character and Fitness review. Students will apply to law school in the fall of their senior year. Students who meet the following requirements will receive automatic admission to UNH FP School of Law:

  • Complete all FPU core requirements/accrue at least 84 credits before submitting an application to UNH FP; 
  • Demonstrate an earned cumulative 3.5 GPA at the time of application to UNH FP, and maintain that GPA until graduation; 
  • Take the LSAT no later than September of their senior and have a minimum score of 156 or the equivalent GRE score; 
  • Submit the law school application through the Law School Admissions Council by October 1 of their senior year; and
  • Pass the UNH FP’s character and fitness requirements. [UNH Franklin Pierce Admissions will review the applicant’s Character and Fitness answers contained in the applicant’s completed application. Upon satisfactory answers, the applicant, provided they meet the other requirements set forth herein, shall be admitted to UNH Franklin Pierce’s full-time residential program.]

Students must receive their undergraduate degree prior to matriculation at UNH Franklin Pierce Law.

4+1 Bachelors + Graduate Degree (BA/BS + Masters) 

Students who pursue a designated course of study and meet minimum GPA requirements would be automatically admitted to one of the law school’s specialized masters programs, including the Masters in Intellectual Property, Masters in Commerce and Technology, and Masters in International Criminal Law and Justice. Students will apply to the master’s program in the fall of their senior year. Students who meet the following requirements will receive automatic admission to UNH FP School of Law.

  • Demonstrate an earned cumulative 3.5 GPA at the time of application to UNH FP and maintain that GPA until graduation; and 
  • Submit a complete application to the law school, including all required documents, including letters of recommendation, personal statement and transcripts by November 1 for both residential and online programs beginning in the fall semester.

Students must receive their undergraduate degree prior to matriculation at UNH Franklin Pierce Law.

Vermont Law and Graduate School

This agreement guarantees admission into Vermont Law and Graduate School's JD and master’s programs, as designated by Vermont Law and Graduate School (VLGS), to FPU students who successfully complete the FPU requirements for the bachelor’s degree, and who also meet the admission requirements as outlined in the articulation agreement. There is a 4:3 Bachelors + Law Degree (BA/BS+ JD) and 4+1 Bachelors + Graduate Degree (BA/BS + Masters).

4+3 Bachelors + Law Degree (BA/BS + JD)

  • The applicant must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) calculated by the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) that is equal to or exceeds the median GPA of the first-year JD class in residence at VLGS at the time of the application. 
  • The applicant has a current LSAT score (dated less than five years from the first semester of enrollment at VLGS) that is equal to or exceeds the median LSAT score of the first-year JD class at VLGS at the time of the application.

4+1 Bachelors + Graduate Degree (BA/BS + Masters)

  • The applicant must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.3 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale).
  • The applicant presents two letters of recommendation from FPU faculty.

For both VLGS programs listed above, FPU students who meet or exceed the median GPA and LSA T score of the first-year class in residence at VLGS at the time of admission will be granted a Merit Scholarship for at least 30% of their tuition at VLGS. They may be eligible for additional VLGS institutional aid at the discretion of VLGS.

  • If a program candidate fails to meet the academic requirements of the program, that student will still be eligible for admission to VLGS as a regular VLGS applicant student.
  • No credit toward the JD or Masters' degrees will be granted by VLGS prior to matriculation into the JD or Masters' degree program. 
  • Students must be in good standing at both FPU and VLGS at all times.
